Places To Ski And Snowboard In Oregon – Hoodoo Ski Area

September 01, 2016

Our Shelter Cove Resort & Marina is not only a desirable destination during fishing season but also during winter when the nearby mountains and forests cater to skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and so much more! Being close to the Willamette National Forest means access to picturesque central Oregon ski slopes such as the ones found at the Hoodoo Ski Area.

Situated on the summit of the Santiam Pass, the Hoodoo Ski Area offers over 800 snow-covered acres to explore! This expansive winter wonderland includes 34 runs, 5 ski lifts, and their autobahn tubing park which is one of the largest in the western United States.

The services and recreational options here cater to all skill levels. For beginners, the Hoodoo Ski & Ride School offers lessons at various levels of experience for those interested in learning more about skiing and snowboarding. The mixture of finely groomed trails and deep powder runs further add to the diverse offerings found at Hoodoo.

Experienced skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of the area’s Nordic Trails which include various loops and paths that are ideal for those looking for a cross-country skiing adventure.

The Hoodoo Ski area also allows snowbiking with a valid snowbike license or with the purchase of a lesson and rental. Other rental items and activities include snow trikkes, snowshoes, snow skates, ski blades, and of course everything you need for skiing and snowboarding. Click here for a list of rental items and pricing.

The upcoming ski season depends on the snowfall but the official Hoodoo site provides real-time information regarding current conditions, the mountain status which includes a breakdown of the current availability of trails, lifts, and lanes in the tubing park, access to live webcams that showcase various parts of the area, and the weather forecast provided by the National Weather Service.
