Scenic Highway S22 Restored

September 18, 2013

County Highway S22, a popular route into Palm Canyon Hotel and RV Resort, has been fully repaired from heavy rains that washed out the road in August and it is once again safe to travel.

For visitors who enjoy a scenic view when they come to our resort, this is the way to get here. The highway descends 2,500 feet for approximately 9 miles through the mountains, offering magnificent views of the Borrego Valley, Salton Sea and beyond as it winds down into the desert.

As it enters Borrego Springs, County Highway S22, also known as Montezuma Valley Road, turns right onto Palm Canyon Drive. (Palm Canyon Resort is the western gateway into Borrego Springs.)

Thanks to the San Diego County Department of Public Works, which oversees some 2,000 miles of highway in unincorporated areas, for completing this timely work.

Other travelers may choose Highway 78 to reach us. Whichever way you choose to come, rest assured you will enjoy the trip!
